IT SUPPORT · SYSTEMS · IDENTITY

Hi, I’m Kevin Wong.

I solve IT problems.
Then improve
the process.

I’m a Junior Network Administrator in South Florida. I help people work productively, support the systems behind them, and turn repetitive IT work into repeatable solutions.

SELECTED WORK

Useful changes.
Concrete outcomes.

A few projects that show how I approach identity, infrastructure, and everyday IT operations.

01 AUTOMATION / ACTIVE DIRECTORYLess manual cleanup.
More control.
AI-assisted PowerShell automation for inactive user and computer accounts, with exclusions for critical objects.PowerShellActive DirectoryAccount lifecycle
95%less manual workRead project

The problem

Reviewing and moving inactive Active Directory users and computers required repetitive manual work. The cleanup also needed to preserve important accounts, computers, and organizational units.

My contribution

I used AI to help create and refine PowerShell scripts that identify objects inactive for 90+ days and move eligible objects into designated OUs. I included exclusions for protected OUs and critical accounts and computers.

The outcome

The workflow reduced manual cleanup work by approximately 95%. It gave the team a more consistent way to handle inactive objects while preserving safeguards around critical systems.

02 IDENTITY / PROCESS IMPROVEMENTConsistent account placement
across four domains.
Standardized Okta-to-AD mappings so positional groups align with the appropriate organizational units.OktaActive DirectoryProvisioning
4AD domains mappedRead project

The problem

Users were not being pushed from Okta into Active Directory in a clean, uniform manner, making account placement inconsistent.

My contribution

I proposed mapping position-based Okta groups to matching AD OUs. My manager approved the plan and provided execution guidelines; I completed the mappings across four AD domains.

The outcome

The mappings standardized how position-based accounts are placed in AD. This work built on my experience with departmental access baselines, application access, and onboarding and offboarding workflows.

03 NETWORKING / VENDOR COORDINATIONAn after-hours cutover,
checked end to end.
Replaced two VeloCloud devices and installed three Meraki switches in direct coordination with Windstream.VeloCloudCisco MerakiVLANs & VPN
2 + 3VeloCloud + MerakiRead project

The work

During an on-site assignment, I replaced two VeloCloud devices and installed three Meraki switches as part of an after-hours network change.

My contribution

I worked directly with Windstream on the server-room setup, installed the devices, and checked connectivity after the change.

Validation

I verified that the site’s VLANs were working, the VPN tunnel was connected, and services came back online. During the same assignment, I also supported an application rollout with an on-site vendor team and trained staff on a new iPad sign-in method.

EXPERIENCE & FOUNDATIONS

A support mindset.
A broader toolkit.

I work across people, applications, identity, and infrastructure. I enjoy getting to the cause of a problem and leaving the next technician with clear notes.

HOW I WORK

The fix is part of the job.
Follow-through is too.

Patient with people. Curious about systems. Always looking for a useful improvement.

01 / UNDERSTAND

Start with the impact.

I contact the user, ask questions, and prioritize the request around the effect on their work.

02 / INVESTIGATE

Make the details useful.

I capture screenshots, troubleshooting steps, and outcomes so another technician can pick up the case.

03 / FOLLOW THROUGH

Confirm the result.

I keep users informed, coordinate escalation when needed, and confirm the fix before closing the ticket.

AI, applied to everyday work.

I use Gemini, ChatGPT, and Claude for scripting and technical research, including error codes and email-header analysis. I’ve also coached newer technicians on practical AI use and shared troubleshooting improvements with my team.
